Browser extensions

Do you use extensions in your Edge browser? If so, good news: Microsoft is testing a new "extension performance detector" that warns you if an extension is slowing down your device.

Browser extensions can be incredibly useful. They can do things like translate pages or read them out loud, making tasks easier. But some extensions can be a drag on your browser’s performance without you knowing it.

If the new tool finds an extension that’s causing your browser to lag, you’ll be able to turn it off directly through the notification. Such a great feature.

Currently, the update is only available in an early beta version of Edge, but it will hopefully be available to everyone soon. When it arrives, it’ll help you make sure you’re only using extensions in your business that add value, without compromising your device's performance.

Edge has been steadily improving, with new features like this one that aim to improve and simplify your browsing experience.

What would you like to see Edge do next?
